Matteo Zaccagnino

Editor-in-chief of Top Yacht Design

Born in 1970, Matteo Zaccagnino inherited his passion for the sea from his great-grandfather Giovanni Ragusin, commander of Lloyd Triestino ships on the routes to the East, and his passion for journalism from his father Vincenzo, who in his long career founded and directed some of the most important nautical publications in Italy, including Nautica, Yacht Capital, Mondo Sommerso and Mondo Barca. He took his first professional steps working as press office of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in 1990 and 1991 following some events such as the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup and the Rolex Swan Cup. In 1997 he became a professional journalist and was hired by the editorial office of Yacht Design, and at the same time also followed Yacht Capital, Crociere, Traghetti, and Yacht Digest as editor. In the same period, he started working with various non-sector publications such as Il Messaggero, L'Espresso, Capital, Dove and others. From 2004 to 2014 he was editor in chief of Yacht Capital and Yacht Design and worked with Il Sole 24 Ore, Italy's most important economic newspaper, for which he followed nautical issues at the Genoa Boat Show. In 2015 he became editor-in-chief of Top Yacht Design, a position he still holds. In addition to his journalistic career in the nautical sector, he also works as Watch Editor for the daily newspaper il Sole 24 Ore and for the magazine How To Spend It, (2014-2018); for Esquire Italy (2019-2023); for L’Orologio and for Repubblica (2023-present), U and Door.
