Biographical notes

Since 1994, the editor-in-chief of the magazine Interni (Mondadori) and all the publications
of the Interni system: the monographic Annuals (Cucina, Bagno, Contract); Interni Panorama;
the Design Index; the FuoriSalone Guides; KingSize and the website www.internimagazine.it.
As a curator, she creates and organizes events and exhibitions in various countries.
In 1990 she invented the FuoriSalone, the Design Week that enlivens the city of Milan each year in the month of April, with over 1000 events. In 2007 she received the Ambrogino d’Oro from
the City of Milan for the creation of the FuoriSalone, and in 2014 she was assigned the
Premio ITA Italian Talent Award by the Chamber of Deputies in Rome.

Biographical notes

Mario Cucinella, Hon FAIA, Int. Fellow RIBA, took a degree in architecture at the University of Genoa in 1986, and from 1987 to 1992 he worked with Renzo Piano at the Renzo Piano Building Workshop, in the offices of Genoa and Paris. He established Mario Cucinella Architects in Paris in 1992 and in 1999 in Bologna, where MCA is now located. From 1998 to 2006 he was a professor at the Laboratory of Architecture Technology of the Faculty of Architecture in Ferrara, and since 2004 he has been an Honorary Professor at Nottingham University in England.
In 2013 he was Guest Professor in Emergency Technologies at the Technische Universitat of Munich, and in 2014 he was visiting professor at the Faculty of Architecture Federico II in Naples. He is currently director of the Scientific Committee of PLEA (Passive and Low Energy Architecture). In 2016 the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) assigned to an International Fellowship. In 2017 the American Institute of Architects (AIA) assigned him the prestigious Honorary Fellowship Award. He is the curator of the Italian Pavilion for the Venice Architecture Biennale 2018. In January 2012, he established Building Green Futures: a non.profit organization whose objective is to combine environmental culture and technology to recreate architecture that ensures dignity, quality and performance while respecting the environment.
In 2014 he worked as a tutor together with Renzo Piano on the G124 project for the recovery of suburbs in Italy. He established SOS – School of Sustainability in Bologna in 2015, a postgraduate school aimed at training professionals in the field of sustainability.

Biographical notes

With a degree in architecture from Genoa, he worked for a long period with Giancarlo De Carlo. Towards the end of the 1970s he founded StudioBau, a workshop with which he developed many projects marked by the pursuit of solutions for interaction between users and spaces, receiving many prizes and honors, including nomination for the Compasso d’Oro.
His projects in public contexts include the design of several waterfronts, masterplans and guidelines for zones involved in processes of urban regeneration, also in the wake of exceptional events like the earthquake in Umbria and the Marches at the end of the 1990s. He has acted as art director of several manufacturing firms, designing product lines, display spaces and installations, supervising the entire chain of operations, including the phase of communication.
He has taught design at the Milan Polytechnic, the University of Trento, Florence Institute of Design, and has been a lecturer at the Academy of Mendrisio; in 2012 he was appointed as Visiting Professor at the American University of Sharjah, and later at the Department of Engineering and Architecture of Canadian University Dubai.
Thanks to his experiences in the Middle East, in 2017 he founded UAE Modern, a curatorial project for the creation of knowledge transfer between local and international experts in the field of sustainable development (www.uaemodern.org).
Invited by Mario Cucinella, in 2018 he became the director of the program of studies of SOS – School of Sustainability, the post-graduate course that combines education, research and professional practice in close contact with companies, with the objective of training professionals in the field of sustainability. As Director he has initiated a path of internationalization of the school, while focusing on programming, development and curriculum maintenance, promotion, consultant relations and the launching of projects with the partners of SOS, including (during the year in progress): collaboration with Eni Gas & Luce on the project smarTown, organized by Interni Magazine for the FuoriSalone in Milan; the project for the Amani for Africa NGO for a center for street children in Zambia; the pilot project for new collaborative civic spaces in Bologna, in collaboration with Fondazione per l’Innovazione Urbana; the project for innovative hospitality models and the project Pollution 2018 organized by Iris Group for Cersaie in Bologna, 23-28 September 2018.
